I do a Review! :D

Another awesome Jam by B7!
+ Your breaks are great.
+ The speed definitely encourages this to be a tough song.
- The problem with the heavy metal genre by itself is it does't really cover the Blue tower. (I Choose You! had some random pokemon effects and 8-bit parts that fixed that issue)
+Epic ending to the song (Need to go out with a boom on Symphonic!)

Burn7 responds:

Hrm... Interesting...

So let's say I multi-layered a chime or another high-timbre instrument over/within one of my hats/crash cymbals. Would that activate the tower? Just a thought :P

But I can see how this could be a problem. I personally would love to see more Hard Rock and Metallicious stuff in STD (God I love using that acronym hahaha), but if it doesn't fit well within the game or doesn't contain the elements required, then it just wouldn't work.

If perhaps I threw in a few tinny synths here or there maybe that would change things, but I think that's something that I may have to keep in mind for next time. I should just go straight for Metechnal, my super special word for Metal and Techno, next time. :)

But I'm glad you liked it for what it was though, thanks!

- The intro was too long. I liked how you tease them with a possible enemy spawn but I do think making them wait 38 seconds for their first enemy is a bit much.
+I REALLY like the intense changes in pace. That is definitely something Symphonic players would enjoy.
+The breaks between beats are done really well.
+The ending slows down but the beat still stays strong. (Not as bad as fading out)
+ Used a large variety of instruments so all towers get some attention.

This one was really well done! Great work!

I agree with you that the intro is a bit too drawn out. I think it works well for the song itself, but I couldn't stop thinking about how it would affect the gameplay if chosen. The thing is, I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Adding any kind of forceful percussion would take away from the drums and wobbly (Yes, that's what I call it) blasting in at 0:39. I eventually decided to put in that little breakbeat with a high filter slowly fading in, just so that there could be some kind of drumbeat going on. (Even if it's barely audible, other than the bassy kick). I wasn't sure if it would be enough, but I figured it was better than nothing. I have actually put a good amount of thought into what I could do to alter the intro, but I'm not gonna act on it. That wouldn't be fair since the contest is still active and the deadline has passed.

Putting that aside, I'm glad to see that you liked a lot of other things about my entry! It was my first experience with making a song that followed certain criteria. I had fun :)

Thanks for the review!

Great song!
I really like some of the choices you made (the additions at 0:38) and wished you would have elaborated more on that.
The break at 1:17 was a nice touch too.
This had a similar issue as DjBira's submission, as it never really seemed to want to step out of it's comfort zone and be more than just background music.

Knoxius responds:

Hey man, thanks for the review! I appreciate it. Makes me feel special :P

I totally agree with your statement about 'background music'. I'm still working on structuring my songs better. Most of the time I feel my tracks are suuuper repetitive. I'm not just being hard on myself (like many people will try to say as comfort); it's pretty damn bad.

Again, thanks for the review!

This song has a lot of features that fit really well for Symphonic TD.
-Powerful introduction
-Excellent changes in pace
-Interesting additions (Spooks and Scares)
-I really like that you held off on the melody for a while. That will require the players to shell out more money on more expensive towers (as the yellow tower will be pretty useless until about 2:00)

Great Job!

As far as songs for Symphonic go, there were only a few flaws with this song.
-Intro was a bit too long (First enemy would spawn 34 seconds into the song)
-Beat was not very fast ( Dubstep genre usually ran into this issue ) but that just means this song would be pretty easy to beat since it's pretty predictable.
-Fade outs at the end aren't the coolest way to end a song in Symphonic.

In terms of the song itself... nothing short of spectacular. With some slight modifications I'm sure it would fit in just fine with the other top quality music of yours we've used in the past.

Acid-Paradox responds:

Thanks for the review man!

Yeah i knew that you would say something about the intro , it's just that i always like to go slow with the intros because pretty much those are my favorite parts. I agree, dubstep genre is slow for fast pacing action stuff, maybe that's a reason why you didn't put songs of this genre on your game but i must say that this was on the same tempo/speed as "space trip" and yet it was one of the "hard" songs of your game :D.I really couldn't find a proper ending for the track since most of this type of tracks end with a fade out.

But yeah , in the end I can always make changes to adapt the song to the needs of the listeners.

Awesome!

Quite Charming

I really might want to use this for a project in the future. It's got a cute feel to it that could work really nicely with an idea I'm withholding.

sorohanro responds:

Looking forward to your work :)
Thanks for review.

Win

That right there is an epic win in my book. :)

Acid-Paradox responds:

Thanks man , im glad you like it!

Thanks for the Epic Tune!

When I heard the strong contrast between the silent ambience and the driving chaos of the orchestra I just knew this song would fit very well as the "HOLY SHIT" music for the game, so I just had to use it :)

z0di4c responds:

Oooh yeah, you could have at least told me you used it hahaha. It was fun working with you on that new game though, let me know if you have any other projects in which you need a composer.

Thanks for the Jam man

I had to edit a bit to make it loop and stuff, hope you don't mind. I consider this Lil' Einstein's Theme Song ;)

It's pretty epic.

EternalXIII responds:

I didn't mind at all! When I played the game and heard the track I had a big ass smile on my face! Thanks for using the song.

Yep

That's his name. He's pro.

snayk responds:

Oh YEAH

I'm an old fart who farts.
