Why is Tankmen popular?
Tankmen was a short animation by Jeff Bandelin that featured the NG logo character in a silly situation. The dick and gay jokes involved fit right into the Newgrounds funny bone. The series of animations that followed were no disappointment to the original.
Why are cartoons so unpopular in today's media? Saturday morning cartoons are just about a faded memory.
unfortunately there are so many channels nowadays that kids get their entertainment on multiple channels all days of the week. So what seems like no cartoons is not necessarily true... just the wait period for next Saturday is gone.
Disney has cartoons, Nick has cartoons, Cartoon Network has cartoons, but they all have live action shows as well because budgeting and episode creation is easier to manage.. so they can get new content much faster.

Why is Final Fantasy popular?
Final Fantasy is the most popular turn based game besides Pokemon. It's crazy plot and lovable warriors(who all manage to be very attractive which is BS) are the reason people keep tuning in for more. The animations for the attacks are also pretty neat and they get better with each installment.

Why is Brendan Fraser popular? Seriously, with every shitty actor that plays generic-lead-man all the time, they still have the oppurtunity to be good if they are given a role that actually works with their personality, as opposed to insert-here-because-people-think-he's -funny. With Brendan Fraser however, the only personality he would be able to pull off would be Scooby Doo. The man is in every way useless.

Brendan Fraser is indeed a bad actor. His goofy expressions and gentle face make him a likable character. His movie career honestly has a bunch of movie roles I would find perfect for him. George of the Jungle, Monkeybone, the weird kid who lived underground for like 30 years...
He plays the roles no one else wants. That's why.
