Quick Tablet Question.

Posted by FrozenFire - May 12th, 2008

Im wasting my front page post on this so I hope I get some good answers.

What Drawing tablets can project the monitor's view on them? Like a second screen to write on.

I have foolishly bought one before that didn't do this and I did not like it because it was cheap and broke :P

I know there are such tablets out there but I have had a hell of a time trying to find one.

Quick Tablet Question.

Wacom Cintiq is the best tablet screen on the market, i'm saving up to buy one.

I just checked it, Really nice. Still will take me a while to save up XD

Maybe I can find a cheaper one elsewhere

If you get a cintiq, I believe some places let you pay payments on them, like 50 or 60 bucks a month. Im not really sure though.

Sounds interesting. I will looking into it.

I really need to upgrade my animation by getting a tablet or something to help me out. I feel Like I can't get any better working with my laptop touchpad, and I suck with a mouse.

Nah this was much faster. :P

There I would have to get bitched out by mods.

Hey, what's up. I just thought it would be nice to tell you that I hate you for that post. I was doing just fine with my cheap ass 5x3.5 inch wacom piece of garbage. Now I must have one of those. Ignorance is such a beautiful thing, I did not know that these even existed. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Damn you.

Awwww.. I hate you too <3

:)

Like most have said, a Cintiq is probably the best option for you, cost aside.

And pickle is right, some places do in fact let place monthly payments on them and that'd probably be the most cost efficient way to do so.

Unless you get tempted to buy $200 worth of Fritos.

:D

I do like dem fritos. :S

Thanks :D

just got a cintiq, its worth the money

Awesome. Thanks :D

u gotta hav da cheese fo cintiqs.....I like my screenless waccom it wasn't thousands of $$

I Tried to get used to screenless. It's like writing your name on wood with your finger, you cant tell exactly where one stroke ends and another begins unless you are extremely good guesser.

I already have bought a crappy screenless one and I couldn't stand it and I was so dissapointed. I know for sure with Cintiq I can be satisfied.

I have already told myself long ago that next time I buy a tablet, I am going to get the best that is out there so I will not feel the same way as RatherRandom did just now.

i mean 100's... not thousands

Lol nice pic, it didnt look like a lamp at first... now it dose

and whats going on with RS? i cant seem to log in my old account did the whole site crash or something

Nick updated the Code system or something and is renewing the site again.

our forum index is restarted as well so now you have a chance to be top poster and king of the RS. :P

I recommend a tablet pc over a cintiq. Because it's the same price, and if you're lucky, perhaps even cheaper and it's not just a tablet, it's a pc too. I have one and I LOVE it.

I was fooling around with one of those with a girl in my photography class. We were messing with Corel PAinter, because that's all she had. I Liked it, but I didn't LOVE it because sometimes it would randomly lag and take about 5 seconds to create my strokes on the screen. Also, this could be because of the program itself, so I dunno because Ive never tried Flash8 with it. :\

Good suggestion though I will look into it. Right Now My sights are on the Smallest Cintiq model.

If you got a grand or two, go for it but it's not worth in my opinion.

I will have a grand in about 2 weeks. I checked some youtube videos and Saw the Cintiq and tablet PC in action. They are pretty similar, but I would just have another laptop. XD

As most people have pointed out already, the Cintiq is the best for monitor-tablets.

However, what I would say is if you do not already own a tablet, I would seriously reccomend getting a "standard" (As in, no screen) wacom. I have a Graphire 3, and I originally wanted a Cintiq, whilst I still do want one :P the Graphire isn't that bad. It is difficult to use at first, but after a while you practice and get good with it. Plus, they are significantly cheaper, and are a good starting place.

If you really want a Cintiq, you can also buy a good tablet PC, then you've got a PC and a "tablet" and it probably won't cost that much more then a Cintiq.

Yeah someone said that already. I have a laptop already, i just need a tablet. Flash works really well on this laptop too so I dun think I will need a new PC.

The one thing Im avoiding is Vista. I hate vista, a lot. Its on our home desktop and I never can use that computer without getting PO'd and I know that if I get the Tablet PC I will most likely have Vista.

(Is there a way to turn off VIsta?)

Don't buy a Tablet PC, it's not as half pressure-sensitive as a Cintiq, however, I wouldn't recommend buying a Cintiq either, unless you're planning anything professional, since anything you can do with a Cintiq, you can do with an Intuos (which is 1/3 a Cintiq's price) or a Graphire (even cheaper) and it only takes a few days of getting used to. I have a Graphire, pretty small drawing area, but it's like an extention of my arm now. Check dA, most of the professional artists there don't have a Cintiq and they make masterpieces. Check YouTube, a dude did Mona Lisa on Paint with a mouse. Dave (of RAB fame) has a Cintiq, RAB isn't exactly the greatest work of art now, is it? It's not the tools, it's the artist. So what I'm saying is, start with a cheaper model, see how it goes, my guess is you'll get used to it, and you'll have money to spend on other things as well. My two cents.

I appriciate two cents.. I'll need all the cents I can get ^^

Not to sound like an advert, but after buying a tablet pc, there is no lag in photoshop, painter, or flash. You can get tablet pcs using wacom technology, and a very fast proccesor and graphics card. Mine only cost $1,400 and it has a good sized 14.1" screen, 2.4 ghz dual, and an ati dedicated card =D.

Buy Wacom's Cintiq 12WX, it's the cheapest one

Now What the Heck I checked out that Cintiq thingy -- it's 10.000 in my currency( about 80% of a dollar I believe)... now that's frightening...

Well if you buy one then you must demand it to work by itself, I guess. ¬¬

the chepest one is teh one Im going for.
1000..so.
12.000 Im guessing in your country. hehe

your user picture is the sexiest picture in the world, you should be proud.

Nope. You brought out the "I'm so fucking badass I don't give two fucks about what I'm wearing" kind of look. I was staring at it for about ten minutes before I realized that I looked really gay watching your picture in awe.
